Celebrities' wheels get a lot more attention than other drivers' cars, and certain models have gained popularity simply because celebrities were driving them. The most popular celebrity rides vary from year to year, but there are a few standouts that keep appearing at movie premieres and autograph signings around Hollywood.
The Cadillac Escalade is by far the most popular vehicle in Los Angeles and in other celebrity centers, as its blend of power and incredible luxury have made the Escalade the go-to choice for celebrities everywhere. From its black paint to its chrome aluminum wheels, the Escalade cuts a striking figure and can transport celebs in style and luxury. Its 6.2L V8 is more than powerful enough to speed to an awards ceremony, and with dozens of aftermarket wheels available to customize the Escalade, it's easy to see why the SUV attracts so many famous drivers. Celebrities with a set of Escalade wheels include Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and perhaps most famously, Tiger Woods--although his SUV has a few well-placed dents in it.
The Escalade is the only set of Cadillac wheels that has attracted celebrities. The Coupe DeVille has had a storied history, and actresses like Mischa Barton have somewnhat revived the car's popularity. Mischa's Cadillac is a 1959 Coupe DeVille concept with standard wheels, and although the actress undoubtedly loves cars to be driving such a classic, she ran her Coupe out of gas shortly after buying it.
Rappers are known for loving cars, and head honcho 50 Cent probably wins the prize for the best collection of incredible rides. His prize possession is a Rolls Royce 100-EX, but his specially-crafted Pontiac G8 with 22-inch wheels has become more of a standard for celebrity car lovers.
Mercedes-Benz is a name that's often associated with celebrity culture and high price tags. The Mercedes-Benz E Class is particularly popular with celebrities, including model Gabriel Aubry and actress Jennifer Aniston. The E Class is available in a variety of styles and trims, although celebrities tend to prefer the coupe or convertible. Cars like the Mercedes-Benz E63 have 19-inch wheels, although image-conscious celebrities usually update the standard factory rims with bigger, better-looking wheels and low-profile tires.
Not every celebrity drives a hyper-expensive luxury vehicle. Late night host Conan O'Brien owns and drives a 1992 Ford Taurus, while comedian and writer Larry David has a simple Prius with factory wheels as his main car. These celebs might be trying to keep a low profile, as their wheels are far from eye-catching on the road, or they might just be trying to save some cash--in any case, the trendsetters prefer more powerful and luxurious cars.
You forgot the Bentley! But among between those two cars, I'd rather choose the Cadillac Escalade. First of all, I love huge cars. Second, it's a classy family car.
