The 2011 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG is no small player in the world of super sedans, packing up to 571 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque from a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, but that's not stopping AMG from working to improve it. These spy shots show the latest work on a prototype for the 2013 model.
Heavy camouflage obscures almost all of the styling details, though at this early stage, it's not likely to have much in the way of the final body work. What exactly is going on under the skin that might improve on the current mix? It's hard to know.
Our spies did spot larger brake discs and more open front air intakes, but beyond that, it's speculation as to what might be brewing for the next iteration of the S63 AMG. With the recent introduction of the M157 twin-turbo 5.5-liter engine, however, we don't expect that to change much. A freshened exterior, minor tweaks to the drive programs and suspension tuning, and likely an upgraded slate of the latest options and features are a more likely bet.
